Welcome to the 2016 Australasian Gay & Lesbian Open (AGLO) to be held on 15-17 January at Cintra Park, Concord. AGLO is being held during the Australian 'summer of tennis'. AGLO is sanctioned by the Gay & Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) and is one of the first GLTA WORLD TOUR events for 2016.
The Tennis Sydney & Amazon Tennis Committee especially welcome all players from overseas, inter-state and locally who may be playing their first tournament with us. We trust you will have a great time and make many new friends along the way. Please read the following information carefully to help you plan your tournament weekend.

Friday 15 January 2016: 6pm- 11pm
Saturday 16 January 2016: 8am – 9pm
Sunday 17 January 2016: 8am – 6pm

Friday night only venues: Moore Park Tennis, Cleveland St, Moore Park and Parklands Tennis Centre, cnr Anzac Parade & Land Rd, Moore Park

Surface - all venues: Synthetic Grass
Balls: Slazenger. New balls will be provided for all knock-out events. Once used ball may be used for round-robin and consolation events. ALL balls must be returned to the control desk after your match.
Match format - knock-out events
All matches including finals will be the best of 3 sets, with the 3rd set being a super tie break (first to 10 with a 2 point advantage).The first two sets are normal first to 6 sets with a tiebreak at 6-6.
Match format - round-robin events - Men's doubles D, Women's doubles and Mixed doubles
All round-robin events will be played as one pro-set - first to 8 with a 2 game advantage. A normal tie-break will be played at 8-8.
Match format - consolation events - singles and doubles
One pro-set - first to 8 with a 2 game advantage. A normal tie-break will be played at 8-8.
NB: Short deuce - all events. A sudden death point will be played on the second deuce.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled match time. Important - Immediately check-in at the Tournament Desk so we know you have arrived. You need to check-in each day.
Warm up times are limited to 5 minutes. Report the match results to the tournament desk immediately after your match so another match can be scheduled on your court. Between matches a 30-minute break is allowed after a main draw singles match and a 15-minute break after a doubles match or a consolation singles match.
NB: Late arrivals will incur a penalty in accordance with the GLTA rules starting from the moment the match has been announced (and a court is available). Therefore it is your responsibility to arrange transportation, get directions if necessary and leave yourself sufficient time to get to the venue.
Up to 5 minutes: loss of toss and 1 game
5 to 10 minutes means: loss of toss and 2 games
10 to 15 minutes: loss of toss and 3 games
More than 15 minutes: default.

Further information - first-aid, massage and catering
A volunteer First Aid Officer from St John Ambulance NSW- Event Health Services will be joining us at the tournament on Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday at Cintra Park.
They will be located in the office behind the control desk. Please make them feel welcome.
Massage service available - Saturday 16 January - 11am - 4pm and Sunday 17 January ( tbc dependent on demand)
Sandie Bennett is a sports and remedial massage therapist and qualified personal trainer with over 16 years experience and owner of MuscleFunction. Sandie has previous experience as a sports therapist at events such as; the Australian Ironman event, Australian Indoor Cricket, NSW Indoor Sports and is also the trainer for Australia's #1 female wheelchair tennis player, Janel Manns.

Complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit will be available all day on Saturday and Sunday at Cintra Park. The pro-shop at Cintra also sells a range of drinks, snacks and coffee and will be open throughout the tournament.
Saturday 16 January
Player's Lunch - a buffet lunch of fresh, healthy salads and fruit will be available from 1pm to 3pm in the Cintra Clubhouse.
Sunday 17 January
We will running the Australian Open tipping comp. Pick the winner in both the men's and women's singles finals. Tipping fees will help support our charity fundraising for the new year.
On finals day enjoy a BBQ from around midday. Sausage sandwiches $3.
