Tennis Sydney is an incorporated, non-profit organisation that aims to promote and facilitate gay and lesbian tennis in Sydney. We run both social and competition tennis, catering to a broad player group with a wide range of skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Each year, Tennis Sydney hosts two main tournaments: the Mardi Gras Championships, occurring in February, and the Peter Deacon Spring Tournament, occurring early October. We also host mid-week night competitions which run for 8-11 week blocks throughout the year, catering to all grades. New players are always welcome. |

Hello there
Don’t be scared off by a little chill in the air. Come and join us for the fabulous Tennis Sydney Winter 2013 Swinger’s Competition. This year we are trialling a slightly revised Swinger’s Comp including a division for our members over 40 years old.
Swingers is a great opportunity to play doubles with a different person each week, but in an individual competition.

On the eve of the French Open we salute the achievements of the player who has won the French Open Ladies Singles Championship a record seven times (1974, 1975, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1985, 1986) .Her career winning percentage in singles matches of 90.05% (1309–145) is the second best in the history of professional tennis, man or woman, after Margaret Court's 91.37% (593–56) in the Open Era. Her career winning percentage on clay courts in singles matches of 94.05% (316–20) remains a WTA record.

There will be no Social Tennis at Parklands Tennis Centre this Sunday May 19 as we will be staging our 2013 Club Doubles - Clay Tournament at Eastcourts Tennis Centre, 1 Court Ave, Kingsford.
Please come out to support the event, or volunteer your time to assist.
Sunday Social will return to Parklands Tennis Centre next Sunday 26 May 2013

The Leader Boards for Round 10 of the Mid-Week Competition - Summer 2013 have now been published on the website. They include the results for the semi-finals which were played in Divisions 1 & 2 and the final round for Div 3.
Div 1 will play their Final next week and Div 3 & 4 their semi-finals.
Results are available to members only, please log in to view. The "Results" drop down menu will appear once you have logged in.

Mardi Gras Parade Boys - The Experience

On Saturday 2nd March, four Tennis Sydney members represented our club under the banner of Team Sydney, for the largest ever Sydney Mardi Gras Parade.
With our flag bearer (Seamus) well-rehearsed with our simple dance routine, our wigs fitted (Chris), nails painted and nerves contained (Evan); we danced and pompom-ed (?) away up Oxford St!

The 2013 Tennis Sydney Inc. Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Sunday 7 April 2013 at Parklands Tennis Centre, Cnr Anzac Parade & Lang Road, Moore Park at 3.00pm.
A quorum was determined with 59 Members attending. The Minutes of the 2012 Annual General Meeting were accepted and Reports from the President and Treasurer for the year ending 31 December 2012 were presented and accepted.
